|Michael Photiou, J. was born at Ayios Amvrosios, Kyrenia, in 1945. After graduation from Secondary Education and fulfilment of his military obligations, he worked for 4 years as a Βailiff and Process Server at the District Court of Kyrenia. |
In 1971 he left Cyprus for studies. He studied law in the United Kingdom and obtained the degree, of Barrister-at-Law of the Honourable Society of Grays Inn, London, in November 1976.
He practiced law in Nicosia, originally privately (1978-1981) and from 1981 to October 1986 as a lawyer at the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic.
In October 1986 he was appointed District Judge. He was promoted to Senior District Judge in 1993 and President, District Court in 1996. He served as an Administrative President of the District Courts of Paphos, Limassol and Larnaca-Famagusta.
He was appointed Justice of the Supreme Court of Cyprus in May 2004.
He is married and has two children.
He speaks Greek and English.
