|Effie Papadopoulou, J., was born in Limassol, Cyprus in 1946. After High School graduation in 1964 she read Law at the University of Athens, Greece. She completed her Law degree studies at the University of Athens in 1969. |
Following the completion of her law studies she practiced as an advocate until 1981, when she was appointed at the Office of the Attorney General where she remained until 1986.
In October 1986 she became the first woman in Cyprus to be appointed as a judge. In 1996 she was promoted to President, District Court.
Mrs Papadopoulou was appointed Judge of the Supreme Court in May 2004, serving in this post since then.
Mrs Papadopoulou has been an active member of the Cyprus Judges Association where she served for five years as President of the Association. She has been a member of several Committees on Human Rights and Equality between Men and Women.
Mrs Papadopoulou participated in a United Nations Programme on Human Rights in Geneva and Strasbourg (1992). In 2001 she attended in Thessaloniki a European Union Programme on European Law. She also participated in Cyprus and abroad several in other Programmes and Conferences on Human Rights and Judicial matters.
